Salit Krac

I am a self taught artist, originally from Israel and now living in Berlin. Despite working as a product designer in a digital environment, in my art I prefer to put pencil to paper. I create small to medium size drawings which consist of motifs of the natural world, juxtaposed with human portraits.

Common themes in my work are matters of the heart, longing and misplacement. I examine the kinship between contradictions by lending assets of one essence to another, figuratively or metaphorically, creating hybrids which are possessed by their unsettling surroundings.

I have a big love for storytelling and am constantly inspired by literature, film and journalistic discoveries I come across. Working within the grey scale of colour resonates with my passion for the aesthetics of early photography and archival artefacts.
